There are some great activities going on in Door County during March: Door County Wine & Cheese Gala, St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words”. 

The Door County Wine & Cheese Gala takes place March 12th at the Stone Harbor Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay from 5-8pm. Local Wineries will showcase their wines, along with local cherry products, soda and craft beer, served with specialty cheese, crackers, fruit & nuts. Throughout the evening there will also be music, silent auctions & door prizes.  $15 per person in advance, $20 at the door. Some of the local wineries showcasing their wines will be: Door Peninsula Winery, Orchard Country Winery, Parallel 44 Winery, Simon Creek Vineyard & Winery, and Von Stiehl Winery.

On March 13th there is the annual St. Patricks Day Parade in down town Sturgeon Bay starting at 11 am. Bring the kids out to enjoy the Green fun!

And for the musical lovers, on March 30th at Stella Maris Catholic Church in Sister Bay, Midsummer’s Music Festival’s string quartet will be presenting the 7th annual presentation of Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words of Christ”. Featuring violinists David Perry and Hyundil Roh, violist Sally Chisolm, and cellist Walter Preucil. This year, seven of Door County’s finest poets will present their poems based on each of the seven words. Suggested $10 goodwill offering per adult.

Snow Storm Doug has dropped a good 6″ ,or more, of snow in Door County. Why not take full advantage of it & bring up your sweetheart or the family to enjoy over Valentine’s Weekend!

Peninsula State Park’s Hill 17 offers the best Sled Hill in Door County along with awesome Cross Country Ski Trails, The Ridges Sanctuary  (in Baileys Harbor) has great Snowshoe Trails, also, the Teresa K. Hilander Ice Rink across the street from Pheasant Park offers a great family atmosphere for Ice Skating, Hockey & Broomball Leagues. They have a warming house with snacks & drinks as well as they rent out skates to those of you who forgot yours at home.

For all of you Sister Bay Loving Guests, you’ll be thrilled to know that the ever so popular, JJ’s La Puerta in Sister Bay, has re-opened!

Last August, JJ’s restaurant was severely damaged in a fire that charred the restaurant’s kitchen & damaged rental units upstairs. The fire was caused when cleaning rags soaked in cooking oil ignited in the early hours of the morning.

Since then, JJ’s opened a new restaurant- JJ’s of Jacksonport. Both will still be running, however, the home base in Sister Bay has been sorely missed by locals & tourists alike.

The next time you come up to stay with us at Pheasant Park, be sure to stop in at JJ’s for one of their great dinner plates & some Bernie’s!

JJ’s will be open from 4pm till close Tuesdays through Fridays and all day Saturdays.
