Its official,  new beach dedication will be held on Thursday, July 17th at 11am.  You may remember a landmark of Door County, Helm’s 4 Seasons Hotel, located on the water’s edge, next to the Sister Bay Public Beach/Park.  The owners of Helm’s decided to sell their waterfront property to the Village of Sister Bay who in turn is making it a public park/beach!!!! Great news for all guests and residents of Sister Bay. What a great time to be at Pheasant Park…pack a picnic lunch (we can help with that as we have many suggestions and a wonderful “package”) walk, yes, I said walk to the beach and on Wedsnesdays enjoy Concerts in the Park.  We still have rooms open for the 4 of July celebration and Fall Fest, but these won’t last long!

Remember that old Carpenters song, “Rainy Days & Mondays”…well, the damp weather does not put a damper on having fun in Door County. One of the great things to do is visit Hands On Art Studio  in Fish Creek. The variety of art projects is amazing plus it caters to all ages.  They even have an “Adults Night”. If you are not feeling creative, Sister Bay has a variety of shops to visit.  I love finding unique items that are nowhere else and you can find them at the Sister Bay Craft Shop not only are they unique, but a good value.  To find hours of this shop and others in Sister Bay go to Sisterbaytourism.com.  Reading and puzzles are always a favorite at Pheasant Park. We have a wide variety of reading material and puzzles to chose from. However, if you need more, visit Passtimes book store in downtown Sister Bay.  An easy walk from the resort, even in the rain and nestled between Moretti’s and Northern Exposure. Oh, did I mention we have 2 game rooms, one with ping-pong…why not start an in resort tournament?

Every morning as I drive to work, I am amazed at how lucky I am to live in such a beatiful area.  And, I also drive by some old time Door County landmarks….Maxwelton Braes Golf Course, the sign advertising Gordon Lodge, and on my final mile, the Patio drive in. These beautiful pieces of Door County are still here and going strong. Golfing at Maxwelton is still a rare treat and then going in to the club house and dining at the Highland Club…such style. Gordon Lodge, on the water, has one of the best restaurants in the county. Their Top Deck restaurant has been serving food  and serving as an entertainment destination for over 50 years! And of course the Patio drive in. They have some of the best food around. Their soup is home-made and delicous…they also make a “jim-dandy” (who says that anymore?) malted milkshake.  All of these landmarks are on highway 57 and are worth visiting while on your way up to Pheasant Park.  Visit our specials page for packages with some of these historic Door County destinations.  And, I did not know that the founder of “Second City“, Paul Sills,  lived in Door County…Baileys Harbor to be exact!
