October’s Colors & Festivals

October is one of the most colorful times to visit Door County, no pun intended.   Apples are ripe for the picking, Fall Colors are bright & Festivals help celebrate the end to another busy Season.

October 6th-9th is the Amish Quilt Show & Sale in Jacksonport, view the quilts and find lots of great gifts for your home and the upcoming holiday season.

October 8th & 9th also holds the 38th Annual Townline Art Fair in Ephraim. Enjoy the juried Art Fair’s displays and sales of visual arts and fine crafts, featuring over 80 professional artists from across the Midwest.

Another favorite festival for our guests is also October 8th & 9th, Egg Harbor’s Pumpkin Patch Festival.  The Village-wide festival celebrates the Fall colors with Entertainment, arts and crafts, rides, live music and lots of treats to eat.

The “last hurrah” for Sister Bay is the 66th Annual Fall Festival. This is one of the biggest weekend celebrations on the Peninsula and we have prime location! The Art Fair tents are set up just a block away from us, so no worries about finding parking, you can just walk to all the festivities. Plenty of food booths, entertainment, parade and carnival rides. Don’t forget about Sunday’s Ping Pong Ball Shoot, where they shoot 10,000 balls into the crowds, with a one in ten chance of catching a Ping Pong ball with a Business name on it where you can win a prize from.

September means the start of Apple Season in Door County

September not only means the beginning to the change of Fall Colors, but it also means APPLES! And Door County Apples are some of the finest you’ll find.

One of the oldest Farm Markets in Door County is Koepsel’s Farm Market in Bailey’s Harbor. They’re known for their Chopped Cherry Jam, but also have an extensive selection of other Door County goodies such as fresh bakery, smoked fish, cheeses, fresh veggies & fruits, and Door County Wines & Maple Syrups.

Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery & Market, in Fish Creek, offers 9 different types of apples that are already picked & packaged for you or, offers you a chance to pick your own (mid September- mid October). They will also be celebrating on September 24th with their 7th Annual Fall Harvest Fest from 10am to 5pm. Live entertainment all day, free guided tours and free wine & beer tours.

Another great find is at the Wood Orchard Market in Egg Harbor. Not only do they offer specialty foods such as morel mushrooms, jams, jellies and dressings, plus country crafts, but they have the ever so popular SweetTango Apples!

And don’t forget what Sister Bay has to offer, Seaquist Orchards Farm Market. Seaquist Orchards, LLC farms over 1,000 acres from Gills Rock to south of Sturgeon Bay and now produces over 50% of Wisconsin’s Cherries! So it’s no surprise that this year, The Door County Economic Development Corporation awarded the owners of Seaquist Orchards with the eighth annual Door County Entrepreneur of the Year Award.  They offer Pie Making Classes in the summer, along with frozen and dried cherry products, cider’s, mustards, honey, fudge and much more.

Wherever your journey takes you, you won’t be disappointed!
